We’re a couple in our 30s living in the Tokyo area, raising our first baby in a cozy house we call home (yes, with a mortgage!). We’re both on a year-long parental leave — something still quite rare for both parents in Japan — and wanted to document this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Why This Blog?
When we first learned we were expecting, we searched endlessly for real, practical information about pregnancy and parenting in Japan — especially in English. But most of what we found was either outdated, overly technical, or didn’t reflect what life is really like for international families here.
So, we started this blog to fill that gap. Our goal is to share our honest experience as new parents in Japan: the joys, the surprises, the useful tools, and even the bureaucratic hurdles.
